This project is about the musical instruments that belong to the percussion family. Percussion instruments sound when you hit, shake or scrape them. Their sounds can be made in many ways. We’ re going to describe two instruments: the xylophone and the grand piano.
3
Have you ever played a xylophone ? It is a set of tuned wooden bars which look a bit like piano keys. A xylophone player hits the bars with round-ended wooden sticks, to make a ringing sound.xylophone To make the sound louder, large xylophones have metal tubes under the bars, which resonate (or vibrate) when the bar is hit. Smaller xylophones have a hollow wooden box underneath.

True to its name, this piano is very grand ! The largest grand pianos are nearly 3 metres long. They are called concert grands. Smaller grand pianos are called baby grands.piano Grand pianos are made of wood, and have a strong iron frame inside to hold the strings. During a concert, the lid over the strings is propped open to make the sound louder.
