2 Appointment Procedures  Appointment date/time listed on your transcript  Appointments last about 5 minutes each  BE ON TIME  Have your form filled out completely with all necessary signatures  If you do not turn in a course selection form, we will create a schedule for you  The Course Selection Guide is online  Descriptions of courses  Explanation of prerequisites or co-requisites

3 Different Diploma Types  High School Advanced Academic  26 credits  2 yrs. Foreign Language, Chemistry or Physics, and Alg II w/ Trig  High School Diploma  24 credits  Hoover City School of Scholastic Excellence  28 credits  4.0 combined credits in foreign language and college-level courses  2.0 credits in Chemistry and Physics  1.0 credit in PreCalculus  Must maintain 3.0 GPA  Alabama Career Technical Education Endorsement  3 Career Tech Classes + 24 credits

4 State Required Electives  Physical Education LIFE ~ 1 credit  Health ~.5 credit  Fine Arts ~ 1 credit  Computer Applications ~.5 credit OR Business Tech Applications ~ 1.0 credit

Parker  Yearbook  See Mrs. Rodgers You MUST speak with these teachers if you wish to take any of these classes

11 New Electives for you  Life Connections (semester course)  If you decide to take Life Connections, be sure to find another elective that is a semester course to pair with it (see course selection book online)  Computer Science Principles  You must have taken Alg. II or higher to take this course

12 Alternate Electives  You MUST choose 2 alternate electives  They cannot be electives that require an interview/application process  You also must make sure that you meet the pre-requisites for that course (if applicable)  Why do I have to choose alternate electives?  A course you chose won’t fit in your schedule (this happens often)  A course you chose doesn’t “make” and we will no longer offer it  A course you chose is full  You make or do not make a team/elective required by try-outs Remember…while you are out for the summer, we are here working on your schedules! Please help us by giving us a few options you would be okay with in the event that one of these situations happens with your schedule.

13 ZERO PERIOD  Students must be a Junior or Senior  Students must have no more that ONE unexcused absence in each of the two previous academic semesters  Students must have had no more than ONE office referral for discipline in each of the two previous academic semesters

14 ZERO PERIOD  Available Classes  Pre-Calculus  Algebra II w/ Trig  English 12  English 12 Dual Enrollment  Fashion (either 1 or 2)  AP Government/AP Economics If this is your “look” in the morning, then zero period may not be for you!

15 Your Appointment  Make Sure …… You are on time You have your 4-year plan and it is signed by you and your parent You have your course selection sheet with required teacher signatures You have your signed AP contract and/or override letter if necessary

18 Final Reminders…  Don’t forget to have your parent initial your 4 Year Plan and sign your Course Request sheet-- It is State Mandated to have a parent signature on file  Don’t forget to make sure you have 2 alternate electives on your Course Request Sheet (or I will pick it for you!)  Remember you have an appointment time on your transcript to meet with your counselor.
