7. Microsoft PowerPoint O De facto choice for many when presenting O Part of the popular Microsoft Office suite, so very familiar to people O Can be used to create both simple or detailed presentations

8. Google Presentation O Part of the emerging Google suite of applications O Similar in many ways to PowerPoint, so if you know that you will know this (not as bulky) O Excellent option to collaborate with others on creating a presentation

9. Prezi O Can be visually pleasing, making ordinary presentations more extraordinary O Does not take as much time to learn how to add these nice effects as PowerPoint O Can however take a bit of time to get used to, and you may need an internet connection to run them

10. Hints and Tips for Creating O Do’s O Take some time to plan out your presentation O Include road map at beginning and conclusion at end O Carefully consider colours and fonts you will use O Be consistent – same font, same colours, same heading, etc.

11. O Don’ts O Have too much text on slides – brief bullet points only O Use too much animation, sound, or video O Panic

Hints and Tips for Presenting O Practice your presentation beforehand (including predicting what questions may be asked) O Don’t just repeat what’s on your slides O use brief bullet points to prompt/guide you O take your time and familiarise yourself with the slide before speaking O Pick a few faces from across the room and look at them while speaking
