PREMISE “God loves us for who we are, but loves us too much to leave us this way.”

Don’t Be Scared

Foundational Verse Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2

Conform vs. Transform Conform means to change on the outside but remain the same on the inside. Transform means to change into something totally new

2 Steps to Physical Transformation Deal with stinking thinking Stop bad habits and start good habits

I can do what I want and still get what I need. Stinking Thinking #1

John 5:1-7 Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lay— the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.

John 5:1-7 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

God asks questions to help us deal with our heart What we need (God) and what we want must become the same thing! Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37:4

I am the owner of this body Stinking Thinking #2

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. 1 Corinthians 6:12-14

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be! Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “The two shall become one flesh.” But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:15-17

Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

God created this body so only He understands the purpose for our life. God has the perfect plan for our life. We are the manager of this body, not the owner.

My body is nothing more than a body Stinking Thinking #3

Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 1 Corinthian 6:18-19 Stinking Thinking #3

Your body (temple) should be set apart God spared nothing to restore you, which means you are of great value to Him

Healthy Habits All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthian6:12 What is permissible is not always beneficial!!!!!

Healthy Habits  Drink 64 oz. of water daily  Try to sleep 7-9 hours per night  Exercise 3-5 times per week (30 min)  Eat better and eat less
