Problem The main issue with traffic lights that are presented today, in all parts of the world is that most of the intersections do not have a left turn signal.This is where the existing problem lies because one wrong judgment can risk lives of many individuals. Another problem is that sometimes the road is blocked by the oncoming vehicle who is taking a left turn from the opposite side. This leads drivers to slowly creep up or sometimes take the risk of turning even though the pathway has not been clearly viewed. Such a problem causes for injuries and deaths.

5. Solution:Left Wing The ‘left wing’ that we introduced will be a key concept of safety that will prevent needless injuries and deaths regarding left turns within intersections. The ‘left wing’ will work in effect to reduce dangers of taking a left turn. The ‘left wing’ is a flat board that hangs under the pole of the traffic light. It reads the speed-40km/h, distance-4meters and color of the oncoming car. It also gives you a reading of whether it would be safe to take a left turn or not. The green light would flash if it is safe to do so, otherwise the red light would flash to let the driver know that taking a left turn would be dangerous.

6. Left Wing The reason for knowing the speed of the oncoming car and how far it is at would help increase awareness within drivers. The estimation that is needed by drivers to judge the distance and speed of the car would not be required as they will be provided with this information If there is more than one oncoming car on the road at the same speed, the turn mechanism will automatically detect the speed and flash the ”red light" for the left turn. The proposed design will encourage safety within drivers even when the lane is being blocked by other turning vehicles.
