T HE MAIN AREAS OF ETHICAL OR MORAL EDUCATION RESEARCH Analysis of the current concept and state of the subject ethical education in Slovakia and the EU Basic factors, motives and circumstances of creation of the subject Analysis of aims and curricula of ethical (moral) education Quality of methods, procedures, forms and means of ethical (moral) education and their connection with practical life of school, family, public and society (civic participation) Prognoses (projects, ideas, strategies) for further development of ethical (moral) education (and its equivalents) in Slovakia and the EU.

C ONTEXTS OF MORAL EDUCATION The subject is absolutely necessary Its introduction was inevitable and socially beneficial, however it was received indifferently Its radical structural, didactic and innovative reconstruction is necessary. Conceptual changes have to overcome narrowed concentration on pro-social education. It is inevitable to reconsider current preparation of future teachers of ethical (moral) education It is necessary to intensify preparation of university course books, study texts, methodological and didactic materials and further relevant educational means Teaching of ethical (moral) education should be more closely connected with practical life of family, school, public and society. The subject should not be viewed as an counter-pole to other subjects (e.g. religion, ethics, practical philosophy, civics etc.)
