SWEDEN Sweden is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe. Sweden borders Norway and Finland, and is connected to Denmark by a bridge-tunnel

Sweden is the third-largest country in the European Union by area, with a total population of about 9.7 million people. Swedes are known as Vikings.

Holidays 6 June is the National Day of Sweden and has since 2005 been a public Holiday. Swedes eat large amounts of boiled crayfish with boiled potato and dill.

Sports The two main spectator sports are football and ice hockey. The Swedish national men's ice hockey team, affectionately known as Tre Kronor (English Three Crowns) Successful football players include Gunnar Nordahl, Gunnar Gren, Nils Liedholm, Henrik Larsson, Fredrik Ljungberg and Zlatan Ibrahimović. But the most successful player is Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Music Sweden has a rich musical tradition, ranging from mediaeval folk ballads to hip hop music. The music of the pre-Christian Norse has been lost to history.
