What is the motion of the moon around Earth? The moon revolves around the Earth in a elliptical orbit that is titled 5 degrees from the Earth’s orbit. The moon rotates at the same rate it revolves.

How long does it take the moon to revolve around the Earth? It takes about 27 1/3 days to revolve

What are the phases of the moon? The phases are the varying amounts of lit moon as seen from the Earth.

What occurs during the waxing (New) phases of the moon? More and more of the lit side of the moon becomes visible = New Full (Right side is lit)

What occurs during the waning (Old) phases of the moon? Less and less of the lit side of the moon becomes visible = Full New (Left side is lit)
