2 What is the motion of the moon around Earth? The moon revolves around the Earth in a elliptical orbit that is titled 5 degrees from the Earth’s orbit. The moon rotates at the same rate it revolves.

3 How long does it take the moon to revolve around the Earth? It takes about 27 1/3 days to revolve

4 What are the phases of the moon? The phases are the varying amounts of lit moon as seen from the Earth.

5 What occurs during the waxing (New) phases of the moon? More and more of the lit side of the moon becomes visible = New  Full (Right side is lit)

6 What occurs during the waning (Old) phases of the moon? Less and less of the lit side of the moon becomes visible = Full  New (Left side is lit)

7 How long does it take the moon to go through its phases? About a month; 29 ½ days

8 What is the reason for phases of the moon? The revolution of the moon around the Earth.
