4 Step #1 Clean the pan.

5 Step #2 If the pointer is not at zero, have the teacher zero the balance.

6 Step #3 Place an object in the center of the pan.

7 Step #4 Move the middle rider over a notch until the pointer drops. Then move it back one notch.

8 Step #5 Repeat the previous step with the back rider.

9 Step #6 Move the front rider over until the pointer is at zero.

10 Step #7 Add the values of the three beams to determine the mass.

11 There will always be two decimal places in your answer. The last one must always end in a 0 or a 5.
