WHO IS HOMELESS?

YOUTH ADULT HOMELESSNESS IS ON THE IS ON THE RISE!

According to politics.com poverty is not a lack of character. It is a lack of money. A lack of opportunity. A lack of investment. It is when a society turns its back and makes you invisible. According to recent studies the new face of homelessness is families. There are literally thousands of homeless people who come from all walks of life, especially youth, who are living with out an address, living unstable with friends or other families, sleep in cars, subways, park benches, or ride the bus or train to get some sleep.. THE TRUTH THAT IS OFTEN IGNORED

More advocacy is needed to continue to fight and keep policies that support extended state income rates, homeless programs, supportive housing, emergency shelters, transitional housing, and homeless intervention programs. In NJ, programs like the Social Services for the Homeless (SSH), and the NJ Coalition to End Homelessness all support the NJ Administrative Code, Title 5, chapter 41 that supports and provides funding for homeless prevention programs. Today, many are fighting the fight to get resources and additional funding to offer shelters, outreach programs, assistance to aging out foster kids, and the rising number of homeless children enrolled in schools.

NEW JERSEY In New Jersey there was an anti-begging law that was challenged. The town folk of New Brunswick, NJ wanted to prohibit others from begging for food or money. The New Jersey Coalition to End Homelessness stepped in to help John Fleming a homeless man arrested four times for holding up a sign stating that he was broke. The organization served as a plaintiff who got New Brunswick not no longer enforce the anti begging law. anti begging law.
