Density Definitions: Mass per unit volume
How much matter is in a given space. D = m/v Mass – the amount of matter Volume – how much space.

Mass vs. Weight If you go to the moon, what happens to mass and weight?
Stays the same. Mass is a measure of the amount of matter. Changes Weight is measure of gravitational pull.

To Find Density: Measure the mass (in grams) using a triple beam balance. - If your sample is in a container, remember to subtract out the container’s mass. 2) Measure the volume (in milliliters for liquids and cubic centimeters for solids). length x width x height for rectangles For irregular shaped objects, measure the amount of water it displaces in a graduated cylinder. 3) Divide the mass by the volume.
