Required an attached enclosed garage or carport in R-1 and R-2 zoning districts The Ordinance required: The garage or carport must be at least 10 ft. X 20 ft. The garage or carport must be architectural integrated in the design of the dwelling unit The garage or carport must be structurally connected to the dwelling unit According to the Ordinance, between 2000- 2004, 90% of all single family dwelling units were constructed with a garage or carport. Added Section 102-5 All residential dwelling units within the city in any land use district or zoning category shall have an attached or detached enclosed garage of at least 10 feet by 20 feet. Existing dwelling units with a garage or carport that is enclosed to form a part of the living space of the dwelling unit shall comply with this [chapter]. Deleted reference to carports in the R-1 and R-2 zoning districts Deleted reference to carports in Section 102-49(6) – R-2 Added Section 102-89 and Section 102-130 requiring an attached or detached garage in the R-3 and RPO (Residential Professional, Office) Ordinance passed to reduce potential code enforcement violations relating to junk vehicles or other storable items O-38-2007

Awning an architectural projection that provides weather protection, identity or decoration and is wholly supported by the building to which it is attached and may also be retractable. An awning is comprised of a lightweight, rigid skeleton structure over which a rigid covering is attached. Carports an accessory structure or portion of a principal structure, consisting of a roof and supporting members such as columns or beams, unenclosed from the ground to the roof on at least two sides, and designed or used for the storage of motor driven vehicles owned and used by the occupants of the building to which it is accessory. 10. Garage, private a structure designed or used for inside private parking of private passenger vehicles by the occupants of the main building. A private garage attached to or a part of the main structure is considered part of the main building. An unattached private garage is considered an accessory building. Motor Vehicle any vehicle which is propelled or drawn on land by a motor, such as, but not limited to, passenger cars, trucks, truck-trailers, semi-trailers, campers, go-carts, amphibious craft on land, dune buggies, or racing vehicles, but not including motorcycles. 10.
