3. Visual Codes Setting – House/street Lighting – Ambient when outside, low-key when in house. Bright lighting in doctor’s scene at beginning. Props – Mirrors Costume – Black clothing, to symbolise that she is in mourning of her sister. Doctor’s outfit for midwife. Make up – Natural, very minimalistic so as not to draw away from plot. Casting – Black twins, atypical as hardly any horror films have twins and the majority of the time, white people are the main characters in films. Tall man for doctor. Colour – Bright colours in the beginning, then slowly the colour fades and become more dull as does the storyline.

5. Idea 2 – “China Doll” Genre –Supernatural horror Based on child who from a young age wanted a china doll. Girl is convinced that the doll is talking to her and telling her to do bad things. Starts off with breaking small objects, then as it continues it progresses to hurting herself/others. Flashbacks to moment she asked for doll, when she was a normal child. Inspirations: - Orphan - Haunting in Connecticut - Paranormal Activity

6. Visual Codes Setting – House, some shots on street. Lighting – High key lighting throughout Props – China doll, jewellery box Costume – Homage to ‘Orphan’, taking inspiration from Esther’s costume in the film. Make up – None, minimal if any. Casting – Young girl, typical of supernatural horror film

7. Technical Codes Camera work – Establishing shot of doll in window. Lots of close ups to show child’s emotion, reverse shots of conversation between mum and psychologist. Low angle shots to show child becomes dominant. Sound – Sound from jewellery box, dialogue, screams. Editing – Quick cuts, fades to black, flashbacks.
