3 Introduction The Legislative Assembly Service  Help to Strengthen relationships within the Legislative Assembly Service (LAS)  Support of the Library mandate (in part)  develop and maintain the legislative and research collection, and  to ensure the collection’s present and future accessibility to parliamentarians, the civil service and the people of Saskatchewan.  Support the LAS objective of fostering awareness and knowledge of the Legislature  Seeing and taking advantage of opportunities for the Library as they arise

7 Conclusions The Legislative Assembly Service  Resources for LAS staff on various HR topics that are relevant for all employees  Break down silos between divisions of the Legislative Assembly Service  Relationships strengthened and work projects ongoing between the HR and Library divisions

8 Reciprocal Library Tours The Legislative Assembly Service  1 st Round – Fall 2011 Libraries and Archives participating included: --Regina Public Library – Prairie History Room --Saskatchewan Genealogical Society Library (SGS) --Saskatchewan Archives --Saskatchewan Legislative Library  2 nd Round – Spring 2013 Libraries participating included the above as well as: -- Law Society of Saskatchewan Library --Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region Library

9 Reciprocal Library Tours The Legislative Assembly Service  Support of Library Mandate by helping library and archive staff from other institutions come and learn about our resources and services.  Network with others in Regina library community in order to share experiences, discuss upcoming projects, and learn about possible resources for our primary client group.

10 Saskatchewan Library Association Conference The Legislative Assembly Service  Presentation – SLA Conference 2014  Topic: Saskatchewan Legislative Library: Mandate, Collections, and Services and the GALLOP Portal Leslie Polsom/Greg Salmers – presenters

11 SLA Conference 2014 The Legislative Assembly Service  The Legislative Library Booth  Purpose  --Provide a greater awareness of the library collections and the services available to the Saskatchewan public  --Represent the LAS and the objective of fostering awareness and knowledge of the Legislature

12 Conclusions The Legislative Assembly Service  Having both the booth and the presentation meant the Legislative Library had a certain amount of presence at the SLA conference  We were able to reach a larger audience  We were able to answer questions about the Library and the Legislative Assembly  Very positive experience and we will do this again

13 Final Conclusions The Legislative Assembly Service  Return to my Introduction  Opportunities to network within the LAS and within the wider library community  Opportunities to showcase the library collections and services  The Library took advantage of opportunities by saying yes to ideas as they were presented to us
