This and These This and These are demonstrative adjectives that point to nearby people or things. This glass next to me is empty. These lenses magnify objects.

That and Those That and Those are demonstrative adjectives that point out people and things far away. Pick up that box over there. We can use those mirrors by the window.

Use This and That with singular nouns. This picture is crystal clear. That mirror is broken.

Use These and Those with objects that are plural. These pictures are perfect for my album. Those mirrors will go perfectly in my hallway.
