Mars is the 4 th planet from the sun. Mars is 205million km away from the sun.

Revolution Time 1.88 years Mars is the god of War. In Greek mythology, he is known as Ares. The planet probably got this name due to its red color; Mars is sometimes referred to as the "Red Planet." The name of the month March derives from Mars.MarsAres

Rotation about its axis is 24.6hrs

Mass:0.64x10^24 kilograms (0.11 x Earth's) Density:3,933 kg/m^3 It has volcanoes, valleys, high lands and low lands It is named the red planet

Phobos- diameter is 17 and is 5,830 miles from mars Deimos- diameter is 10 and it is 14,580 miles from mars 1/3 ratio of earth

Very very little atomosphere Mars has more carbon dioxide than earth In cold weather from on the surface there is C02 in ice polar caps

Mars is an inner terrestrial planet

Terrestrial planet- which means is rocky and sandy like earth. The surface of Mars consists of highlands and lowlands. The highlands are in the southern hemisphere (the bottom of the figure), and the lowlands are in the northern hemisphere of Mars (top of the figure)

Mars is the fourth closest planet to the Sun and the seventh largest overall. Mars is sometimes referred to as the "Red Planet" because of its reddish appearance. Mars' orbit is very elliptical, causing a temperature variation at the sub solar point of about 30 degrees C. Mars is the planet that is considered the best candidate (besides Earth) to harbor life. Also, the popular belief of irrigation canals being built by intelligent beings was present after astronomers thought they viewed lines across Mars' terrain. Because of this belief, Mars is often a popular topic for science fiction novels, movies, etc. Mars, is also well-known for "The Face," a hill, in the northern plains of Mars, with the appearance of an extraterrestrial face.
