Governance document of the Georgian GC Network: Mission: The mission of the GGCLN is to provide leadership within Georgian business community and society in general, aimed at promotion and incorporation of best national and international practice in the area of human rights, labor standards, environment, and anti-corruption, while fostering dialogue and collaboration between all stakeholders. In doing this, the GGCLN contributes to the development of Georgia as a competitive, progressive, equitable, stable, open, sustainable, and inclusive society.

Functions: to provide Georgian signatories with a facility to consider and advance issues of mutual interest and concern to provide a mechanism through which performance and reporting on UN Global Compact principles can be improved by mutual support to enable participants to share and exchange practice and experience to promote the Global Compact principles throughout the Georgian business community to help promote and support the Global Compact worldwide

Steering Committee’s responsibilities: to represent the GGCLN, and ensure its integrity, impact, relevance, and reputation to provide policy and strategic advice to the GGCLN to carry out the necessary decision-making between the Network Meetings to ensure effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of joint activities, including financial planning to facilitate constructive dialogue among members and stakeholders to report to the Network Meeting on the yearly basis to closely collaborate with, and oversee the operation of the Secretariat to screen the new applicants for Global Compact membership

Secretariat’s responsibilities: To act as the focal point for UN GC in Georgia To facilitate regular work, communication, reporting; to support the Steering Committee; to provide administrative support

Review of 2009: Three members lost by attrition Five new members added to the list: American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia; Caucasus Environmental NGO Network; Georgian Employers’ Association; Georgian Young Economists’ Association; London School of Public Relations Reporting: 14 out of 28 companies submitted Communication on Progress

Major activities in 2009: Twelve organizations decided to collaborate in promoting responsible business practices Network structure: establishment of the SC, development of governance documents, defining the Secretariat National conference on CSR Learning: two workshops on reporting, training for PR managers Public dialogue: five topics

Planning for 2010. Deciding on the priorities What type of engagement the members prefer? What can we do to ensure reporting? Recruiting new members

Proposed activities: Amendment to tax regulation on donations Supporting the paper recycling scheme Annual award for responsible business practice Manual on CSR Work with PR and HR professionals Championing an issue Introduction of CSR curricula to universities Outreach
