Core 40 Diploma Core 40 Requirements 42 Credits 8 credits English 6 credits Math All students will need to take a Math or Quantitative Reasoning Course (QR) each year of high school 6 credits Science 6 credits Social Studies 3 credits Health & PE 5 credits Directed Electives 8 credits Electives

Core 40 Diploma English- 8 Various options Math- 6 to 8 Algebra I Algebra II Geometry Math or QR Course Ex: Physics, Economics, Aerospace Engineering, Principles of Engineering Science- 6 Biology ICP, Physics, or Chemistry Any other Core 40 Science Social Studies- 6 Geography, Honors Geography, World History, or AP World History US History, Honor US History, or AP US History Government Econ

Core 40 Health/PE- 3 1 in Health 2 in PE Directed Electives- 5 World Languages Fine Art Career/Technical Can be any combination (ex. 4 from World Languages 1 from Career/technical) Electives- 8 World Languages are strongly recommended

Core 40 with Academic Honors 47 Credits Complete Core 40 requirements C or above in all courses Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above B average 8 credits math 2 credits Fine Arts 6 or 8 credits in World Languages Complete one of the following: Four credits AP courses with AP examinations Two dual credit courses resulting in 6 college credit hours Two credits in AP course and AP exam and one dual credit course (3 college credit hours) SAT or ACT score (talk to guidance for specifics)

Core 40 with Technical Honors 47 credits Complete all requirements for Core 40 Earn a grade of C or above in all courses that will count towards the diploma Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher Earn 6 credits in college and career preparation courses in state approved pathway Complete one of the following: Pathway designated industry based certification or credential Pathway dual credits resulting in 6 college credit hours Complete one of the following: Any additional options for AHD Workeys Accuplacer Compass

Grade Point Average (GPA) GPA Cumulative GPA GPA for each semester for all 4 years of High School Cumulative GPA is used for the following: specific diploma types Certain colleges require a minimum GPA Many scholarships are based on GPA GPA Weighted starting with the class of 2017 Weighted GPA for diploma types Distinctions of: Summa Cum Laude 4.0 and above Magna Cum Laude 3.85- 3.99 Cum Laude 3.7-3.84
