5 4 Important Questions to Consider 1)How do you want me to treat you? 2)How do you want your classmates to treat you? 3)How do you think I want to be treated? 4)How is learning disrupted during class?

6 WE HAVE TO DETERMINE OUR NON-NEGOTIABLES FIRST. Mine—How I want you to treat me: No talking when I’m talking. No sleeping during class. No cell phones/iPads out/used without my permission. Now meet with your groups and discuss your non-negotiables regarding the 3 questions: How do you want me to treat you? How do you want your classmates to treat you? How do you think I want to be treated?

Provide clear directions and explicitly stated directions.Follow directions and ask questions when directions seem unclear. Check for understand and adjust instruction accordingly.Let the teacher know when you don’t get it. Provide support when students don’t get it.Ask for help, try, and persevere. Provide direct instruction in facts, discrete knowledge, skills and techniques. Observe, listen, take notes, ask clarifying questions, and practice. Coach students toward better performance.Listen, reflect, retry and refine performance. Provide growth-oriented feedback.Use feedback to improve learning. Rules for Class Discussions – Virtual or Actual 1.Use proper grammar/spelling. 2.When responding to classmate, state his/her name before stating your comment/response. 3.Always be polite, even when disagreeing.
