What can I use? Facebook groups with exam classes (KS4 and 5) Twitter for you as a teacher or for your department

Twitter – When? https://twitter.com/JCGRelEthPhil Gill can create a department email As a teacher or as a department Share information with students and parents retweet information from relevant sources Share achievements/milestones etc

Twitter – How? Register for an account and start tweeting! No privacy issues Students ‘follow’ you. You don’t follow them. Just think about it before you share it!

Facebook – When? https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/512393538842025/ With exam classes Setting homework Answering questions Encouraging them to discuss with one another

Facebook – How? Use your private account or a teacher account Set up an open group and get one student to add themselves during a lesson. You make the group private and they then add others. Make sure you have another member of staff in the group too. ‘One strike and you’re out’ policy

Social Media – Why? They’re always on it! (notifications) Engaging (news/articles etc) It’s safer than you think (them and you) It’s easy Independent Learners Opportunity to have a voice Belong!
