1 Status of the Production ALICE TF MEETING 11/02/2010

2 MC Production: Summary of the week Currently there are 4 MC cycle running (since yesterday): lhc10a12, lhc10a13, lhc10a14 and lhc10a15 – MC production using all available resources Just a few number of jobs running from Monday to Wednesday – Finishing previous jobs – Just a few user analysis jobs also running in the system There is no train analysis for the moment Pass4 reconstruction executed at FZK also has finished with no issues to report in terms of Grid services – Lhc09d(4), corresponding to the LHC period lhc09d – 46 runs, total size 427 GB and ~1.1M particles

4 Site issues and announcements REMINDER: The status of the sites (in terms of WLCG services) is reported at the WLCG daily operations meeting – The information is linked from alien2.cern.ch: http://alien2.cern.ch/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=119 T0 site – We have not reported any issue in terms of WLCG services during this week On Tuesday we have rechecked the status of the CREAM-CE before the startup of the new MC cycles T1 site – The Pass4 reconstruction at FZK has been reported T2 site – Cape Town: New gLite3.2 VOBOX certified. Still facing some issues with the local CREAM-CE in terms of authorization – GRIF_IPNO: Downtime announced to replace the disk of the SE with 2 disks RAID 0 (downtime expected to be finished by today) – Cyfronet: Downtime at the site to rearrange hardware setups (whole week downtime) – GRIF has announced the setup of the CREAM-CE system for ALICE at the site. The system has been tested by the site admin witha positive feedback. The system will be put in production as soon as the number of WNs behind the CREAM-CE will be increased

5 News about the LHC startup for 2010 For the next two following years, the accelerator will be running from Running from mid-Feb – end Nov Pb-PB collisions expected in November In principle stop after 1 fb^-1 ; but we should plan to run for a full 2 years – 182 days pp and 28 days HI in each 2010,2011 – 7.9 Ms pp + 1.2 Ms HI each year assuming 50% availability
