Don’t leave God out of your plans – Js 4:13-17
2
James 4:13-14 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet, you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”
3
It is NOT a sin to plan ahead. Isaiah 14:24 -- The Lord of hosts has sworn saying, “Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand….”
4
”Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established”
5
Where does God fit in our planning? Secular mindset separates God from ordinary life. Faith/God holds only a small place.
6
We are a vapor. We don’t know what our life will be like tomorrow. So – how should we make our plans?
7
A planning mistake. What shall I do? I will tear down my barns and build larger. I will say to my soul….
8
God’s will permeates every aspect of our existence.
9
Matthew 6:10 -- ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
10
And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”
11
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
12
Vs. 17 -- Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.
13
Pray more? Study more? Share the gospel more? Sin less? Visit the sick? Contribute more? Forgive my brother/sister But never did it?
14
As we serve. As we pray. As we study. As we teach. As we preach. As we visit.
