Learning about dialogue and using quotations correctly

What is dialogue? Dialogue is a conversation (talking) between two or more characters in a piece of writing.

Why use it? Dialogue helps a writer explain what happens in their writing Dialogue helps readers visualize (see)c haracters and better understand them

How do we show dialogue? We show dialogue by using quotation marks around what the character says. Example: The gingerbread boy yelled, “ Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man! ”

Let’s Practice! Who said what? The ________________ said Little pig, little pig let me come in! The _______________replied Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin! Little pig, Little pig, let me come in! Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!
