KEYBOARDING POSTURE Improper posture can lead to fatigue and injury

PROPER POSTURE Sit up straight Body is centered with the B on the keyboard Feet flat on the floor Fingers curved and on the home row Wrists straight and not resting on desk Elbows at sides Eyes on copy

KEYBOARD AND MOUSE Position the keyboard and mouse so that you do not have to reach to use them. They should be close to your body. Arms should be bent at a 90° angle and close to your body Wrists should be kept straight while typing and using the mouse If necessary, use a wrist rest Don’t rest wrists or elbows on the desk or table

INJURIES Injuries can occur when proper keyboarding techniques are not followed Stiff back and neck Eye strain Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a type of repetitive stress injury. There is a channel, called the carpal tunnel, that passes through your wrist. This tunnel can become swollen and place pressure on a nearby nerve.
