Law of Conservation of Mass The Law of Conservation of Mass states that in a chemical reaction there is no loss of matter. Each type of element will have the SAME amount before the reaction and after the reaction. Since you can’t change the amount of materials that make up the reactants, you must write a number in front of each of the products to make sure every type of atom has the same amount before and after!
