3 We are a mix of civilizations: Celts and Iberians in Prehistory…

4 … Roman…

5 … Visigothic…

6 … Arabic Al-Andalus…

7 And finally Christian.

8 Castillian Spanish BasqueCatalan Galician As a result, we have four official languages: Castillian Spanish, Basque, Catalan and Galician.

9 Our relief is very varied, so we have many different climates as well

10 Hot, cold; very hot and very cold.

11 So we get to do this…

12 … And this!

13 El Camino de Santiago: a religious pilgrimage route very popular for many reasons, one being its unpredictable and changing weather.

14 In this changing landscape, you can find the Iberian Lynx… if you are lucky, as it is endangered.

15 So is the wolf…

16 And the bear.

17 The Spanish human species is not endangered yet, though. Probably because of all this.

18 Our food gives us a lot of energy to play football really well.

19 And we can also dance this beautifully.

20 Mr. Cervantes wrote “El Quijote” a looooong time ago. It’s one of our masterpieces.

21 Napoleon’s bother Joseph was our king when the French invaded Spain. We had many other kings and queens from other European families.

22 Franco ruled Spain for over forty years. He was not a King, but a dictator.

23 In the end, Monarchy was back and we have a King and a Queen today.

24 This is our Government with the King and Queen. We are a Constitutional Monarchy, so we have a President.

25 An example of our art: this is how Goya saw himself in his late years.

26 And this is how Velázquez saw himself and the Royal Spanish Princesses in the famous “Meninas” painting.

27 Picasso also had a vision of himself when he was young.

28 And Dalí had a very particular vision about time.

29 Alonso also finds time important in his F1 driving career.

30 Nadal has shown the world how strength of character can take you anywhere. Spanish people can be very stubburn!

31 Stubborn or not, we hope to see you here with us very soon!
