6
First Step… Identify Your Body Type
7
The HourGlass Body Shape Typically the “ideal” shape No need to rely on camouflage tricks Do: Wear clothes close to your body Avoid: baggy and shapeless styles
8
The Rectangle Body Shape Wear fitted jackets with lines / seams Wear wrap dresses or rompers with waist accents to create the illusion of a waistline Wear gathers and pleats at the waist
9
The Petite Balance the upper body by creating visual width -- lighter colors on top, darker on the bottom Wear simple and straight or slightly tapered pants without pleats or gathers at the waist Always draw the eye upward with accessories around the neckline Avoid adding visual emphasis to the hip area with long jackets. Do choose jackets that are cropped or in a box style.
10
The Curvy Girl Choose “V” Necklines and vertical design lines (draped scarves, long necklaces, etc.) Prints work well as long as they are medium in scale Create waist definition with visual accents such as seams, darts and lines Wear bold accessories above the bust-line Avoid cropped pants and oversized dresses (caftans, muu-muus) – unless belted
11
Inverted Triangle Body Shape Defined by if the shoulders are wider than the hips OR body is larger above the waist than below Wear darker colors on top, lighter colors on the bottom “V” necks elongate the upper body If wearing loose clothing, belt at the waist to define the waistline Gathered skirts and flared hems look great on this body type Use horizontal stripes and patterns Use accessories and jewelry to visually elongate the torso
12
