3 Specific Challenges faced by consumers when it comes to electronics end-of-life: –Not aware of recycling opportunities; –Unsure about procedures for disposal; –Little known about corporate recycling programs; –Electronics recycling seems difficult and inconvenient, even costly; –To find recycling opportunities; –Which products have superior environmental design and energy efficiency. 8 Current Challenges Given growing awareness and importance about incorporating ‘green’ actions into consumers’ purchasing and lifestyle, there is a need to constantly expand and adapt website. This includes: –Continuously updating recycler tool; –Maintaining current/relevant/reliable information/tips/partnership information and corporate program information; –Tracking green products through database.

9 CEA is currently examining updates to green products database, which may include more reference/information on EPEAT and Energy Star, and other successful voluntary programs for manufacturers. Overall challenge for industry is to educate consumers about: –What our industry is doing to stay ‘green’; –Provide accurate and timely information about energy savings opportunities; –Provide resources to encourage/allow consumers to recycle/reuse their products safely and conveniently.
