3. Adverb Clause 1.Subordinating Conjunction: the first word of an adverb clause. (see packet for a list) 2.When an adverb clause introduces a sentence, it is usually separated by a comma. 3.When an adverb clause comes at the end of a sentence, it usually does not take a comma.

4. Adverb Clause Examples 1.Whether you like it or not, you have to go to bed now. 2.She likes the red car more than her husband does. 3.If you pay your bills, you will have a good credit score. 4.Unless you run fast, you will miss the bus.

5. Adjective Clauses 1.Adjective Clause: a group of words with a subject and a verb that provide a description. The clause starts with a relative pronoun such as that, which, who, whom, whose, whoever, or whomever or a relative adverb such as when, where, and why. EXAMPLE: Eco-friendly cars that run on electricity save gas. 2. The adjective clause follows the word it modifies.

6. Adjective Clause Examples 1.Pizza, which most people love, is not very healthy. 2.The people whose names are on the list will go to camp. 3.Grandpa remembers the old days when there was no television. 4.Fruit that is grown organically is expensive.

7. Essential and Nonessential A nonessential clause is an adjective clause that is not necessary to the meaning of the sentence but merely adds info. USE COMMAS TO SET OFF NONESSENTIAL CLAUSE. An essential clause is necessary, for without it the sentence would have a different meaning. EXAMPLE: – The character whom the novel is about is a prince. (essential) – The little prince, who is the main character, is from a planet called B-612. (nonessential)
