Be a problem solver  Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.

4 Math Standards Operations and algebraic thinking Use the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems. Gain familiarity with factors and multiples. Generate and analyze patterns. Number and operations in base ten Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi- digit arithmetic. Number and operations- Fractions Extend understanding of fraction equivalence and ordering. Build fractions from unit fractions by applying and extending previous understandings of operations on whole numbers. Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions. Measurement and Data Solve problems involving measurement and conversion of measurements from a larger unit to a smaller unit. Represent and interpret data. Geometric measurement: understand concepts of angle and measure angles. Geometry Draw and identify lines and angles, and classify shapes by properties of their lines and angles.

5 Expectations Voice Levels Level Zero (L.0): No talking. Level One (L.1): Whisper Level Two (L.2): Table Level Three (L.3): Classroom Level Four (L.4): Outside Entering the Classroom Enter quietly and ready to learn. Get necessary materials ready. Begin assignment Voice level varies based on assignment. Heading & Turning In Assignments Write first name last name initial (Sue Q.) Place assignment in appropriate bins or give to designated collector. Assignments without name will be discarded. Asking Questions Raise your hand Remain Seated Wait to be recognized Zero voice level until recognized Hallways Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself. Walk to the right of the hall When walking with your class, stay in a straight line. Zero voice level Fire Drill Due to individual and group safety voice level is zero Line up quickly and exit the room Walk to the designated safety area Stand quietly in line and listen for the all clear signal. Return to classroom and resume working. Water Bottles Water bottles must have names written on them Bottles must be filled at home with unflavored clear non-carbonated water. Students may not share water bottles Students may sip from the bottles throughout the day. Bottles must be taken home daily or thrown away. Dismissal Student need to check agenda and pack supplies necessary for homework. Students will take their regular form of transportation. A signed note or office notification is necessary to change transportation. NO NOTE- NO CHANGES

6 Science Standards o Forces and Motion o Explain how various forces affect the motion of an object. o Matter: Properties and Change o Understand the composition and properties of matter before and after they undergo a change or interaction. o Energy: Conservation and Transfer o Recognize that energy takes various forms that may be grouped based on their interaction with matter. o Earth in the Universe o Explain the causes of day and night and phrases of the moon. o Earth History o Understand the use of fossils and changes in the surface of the earth as evidence of the history of Earth and its changing life forms o Ecosystems o Understand the effects of environmental changes, adaptations and behaviors that enable animals to survive in changing habitats. o Molecular Biology o Understand food and the benefits of vitamins, minerals, and exercise.

8 Show Respect Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values. Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. Honor the ideas and opinions of others. Offer to help. Be responsible with property and belongings.

9 Responsibility for Coursework Bring notebook, textbook, planner, and appropriate writing tools to class. Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time. All assignments are posted on the bulletin board and on the class Web site.

10 Promote Lifelong Learning You can develop lifelong learning traits:  By showing curiosity about human nature and how the world works.  By seeking and valuing diversity.  By persisting in seeking out new solutions.  By using your unique talents and intelligence to promote positive change.  By learning and applying technology tools to solve problems.

11 Policies Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Major assignments and projects can be resubmitted. They will be scored at a 10% deduction. Absences  Ask team members or a classmate first for assignments.  Each absence has a one-day grace period.

12 Grading Grades are based on the accumulation of points. Points are based on:  Class participation (effort)  Completion of assignments (daily work)  Major projects, exams, and self-reflection Grades are posted online and updated every Thursday. Our Grading Scale 90-100% = A 80-89% = B 70-79% = C 60-69% = D Below 60% = F Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up whenever possible.

13 My Pledge to Students I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. I will work with you to meet learning goals. I will offer extra help and alternative assessments should you require them.
