The Vera Project? What’s up with fundraising at

Progress Update We’ve raised $26,400 for Fall Fund Drive to date We still have $7,500 in unpaid pledges If you can, please pay your pledge today. Or, if you haven’t pledged, please pledge today! We have our first gala sponsor confirmed: Pagliacci Pizza! The State of Washington will once again fund us, with $6,000 coming in January

Individual Giving Goal in 2012: $70,000 We’ve had a lot of success in this area And that’s good, because it’s proven that individuals donors are the ones who stay with you thick and thin through a bad economy, etc Still, there are some things that are hurting our efforts: » Cash flow needs that require our fundraising be Vera- centered rather than donor-centered » Our database has some pretty unpredictable data We need a plan that defines methods to attract and retain donors, reach our constituents, and create lasting relationships

Sponsorship Goal in 2012: $45,000 This is historically a trouble spot for us We like to wait for corporations to come to us, and our culture includes a natural reluctance when it comes to co-branding What we need to do: » Look at corporate relationships from a big picture perspective – does this relationship help us reach strategic as well as financial goals? » Solicit sponsorships six months in advance or more » Find ways to keep current sponsors engaged Develop a corporate opportunities menu and a solicitation plan that includes members in the prospecting process and gives marketing ROI that is culturally appropriate for Vera

Sponsorship Prospects Goal in 2012: $45,000 Urban Outfitters $ 2,500.00 likely to renew Toyota Free Yr Radio $ 3,000.00 likely to renew Capitol Hill Block Party $ 5,000.00 likely to renew Sasquatch Music Festival $ 10,000.00 likely to renew Tattoo Convention $ 2,000.00 likely to renew Caffé Vita $ 2,500.00 likely to renew eTix $ 5,000.00 confirmed Bookr $ 18,000.00 new – request pending SMCU$ 2,500.00 new Pagliacci Pizza$ 5,000.00 new – they’ve expressed interest Total $ 55,500.00

Foundations Goal in 2012: $90,000 Vera loves grants! We’ve relied and grants and become so comfortable that we like to think we’re going to keep getting the same grants every year, even when market conditions state otherwise What we need to do: » Write from the funder’s perspective » Create a grant research plan that includes new local as well as national opportunities » Treat foundations like individual donors, cultivating them throughout the year » Concentrate on operating grants, and ensure programming and capacity grants also cover attributed operating costs

Foundation Prospects Goal in 2012: $90,000 Operating Grant Prospects Vanguard Thompson Kurtz Fales Tulalip Blodel Boeing Poncho Real Networks Seattle Foundation Adobe McMillen Foundation Total $ 161,500.00 McKibben Foundation ArtsFund One Family Nesholm Shirley Jeffris Wood Puget Sound Energy Satterberg Charlotte Martin Starbucks Youth Special Grant Prospects Paul Allen Foundation Gates Foundation ArtsPlace Total $ 158,000.00

Public Funding Goal in 2012: $72,000* Vera loves government! While government funding is a cornerstone of Vera support, it has steadily declined relative to Vera’s operating budget over the course of Vera’s history, and is likely to continue to do so. What we need to do: – Create an advocacy plan and start cultivating local, state and federal level relationships well before budget cycle – Reduce dependency on government – See large federal grants as a one-time win *$50,000 from the City is already committed, as is $6,000 from the State of Washington

Fundraising Events Goal in 2012: $70,000* for Gala $14,000 for A Drink for the Kids; $1,000 for Holiday Fair Our events have mixed success The Gala continues to remain strong but A Drink for the Kids has lost traction. What we need to do: » Revitalize A Drink for the Kids » Maintain Viva Vera and find ways to improve it each year » Create a plan to use Vera events to leverage sponsorships *$3,000 plus pizza from Pagliacci is already committed to Gala for 2012

How it all shakes out

We know where our issues are, now we need to build the strategies to overcome them You can help do this directly by joining Vera’s fundraising committee… – We’ll create an overall fundraising plan that addresses all the contributed income areas and finds new ways to reach our goals – Plus, sincere Vera is so unique, we can be fundraising trailblazers – We’ll also do things like plan parties and hang out with cool people, no joke! What’s Next
