What is beatlemania? Beatlemania is the phenomenon aroused by the Beatles on fans when they were on stage, during the 60’s. It’s also the period when the Beatles became very famous and when they performed during lots of concerts. Fans attitude Beatles’ fans were mainly girls and more specifically teenagers, except in France, because they had to stay at home. During their shows, fans were very excited: they would strech their arms, scream, shake their head… and sometimes, they even fainted! Hysterical fans Fans holding posters

Policemen’s reaction Because of fans attitude, policemen used to be overworked. They usually tried to stop the fans but they also took care of them: they did their best to protect them (they carried the fainted fans away). At each show, there were hundreds of policemen on the spot to make sure safety was provided. Desperate looking policemen

Our opinion on this phenomenon We don’t think a phenomenon as big as Beatlemania could be possible nowadays, because it was really enormous! Fans still cry and scream at concerts but there is not so much excitement. It was a particular period, because it was the beginning of rock’n roll and pop music so young people were enthusiastic.
