Notes-Classification Life is classified into 3 Domains: Domain 1 is Archaea ---some live in extreme environments (Yellowstone) Domain 2 is Bacteria ---Some bacteria are helpful and some are harmful to humans Domain 1 & 2 are Prokaryotic cells---simple (no nucleus) some make their own food, some eat

Domain 3 is Eukarya---Eukaryotic cells are more complex (have nucleus)

I. Domain 3 is then classified into 4 Kingdoms (large groups) 1.) Kingdom of Animals -Eukaryotic, many celled, all do not make their own food they must eat 2.) Kingdom of Plants - Eukaryotic, many celled, all do make their own food

3.) Kingdom of Fungi -Eukaryotic, some one cell and some many cells, all can not make their own food they must eat 4.) Kingdom of Protists -Eukaryotic, some one cell and some many cells, some make their own food, some eat

These groups are further divided: Domain Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species Classification for humans ----Eukarya ---Animalia ----Chordate -----Mammal ------Primate ----Hominid ----Homo ----Sapiens
