1. Observations View the crime scene photos & write as many observations as possible.

Analyze the observations Qualitative Observations: Describe characteristics (color, appearance, sensations) Quantitative Observations: Describe numbers of things (how many, how much, times) Opinions: Describe personal feelings about something (smelly, scary, gross, yummy, etc.)

2. Questions Discuss & Record 3-5 observable questions the group has about the crime scene. (Questions must be able to be answered by observing the crime scene)

3. Gather background information Read interviews out loud to your group Identify the most important piece of information from each interview & record that info in a few bullet points on the handout

4. Gather evidence Materials Manager: The pH of the blue liquid is 8. What does that mean? (Complete on handout)

5. Make inferences Inferences = explanations based on observations Make inferences about what you think happened to Jeremy. Come up with a 1P explanation of what happened from start to finish (complete as #5 on handout)
