Heart Parts Superior Vena Cava- collects deoxygenated blood from the upper regions of the body and returns it to the right atrium. Right Atrium- chamber that accepts deoxygenated blood from the body. 3/10. Atrioventricular valves- prevents blood from flowing back into the atria from the ventricles. Tricuspid- on right side Bicuspid- on left side (mitral)

4. Right ventricle- chamber that pumps blood to the lungs via the pulmonary arteries.
5. Inferior vena cava- collects deoxygenated blood from the body and deposits it into right atrium. 6. Pulmonary Semi lunar value – prevents blood from flowing back into the right ventricle

7. Septum- separates heart into the left and right sides- prevents deoxygenated blood from mixing with oxygenated blood. 8. Aortic Semi Lunar Valve – prevents backflow of blood into the left ventricle from the aorta 9. Left ventricle- pumps oxygenated blood to entire body.

10. Aortic semi lunar valve- prevents blood from flowing into left ventricle.
11. Left atrium- receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it into the left ventricle 12. Rt/Lt pulmonary vein- carries oxygenated blood from lungs back to heart. 13. Rt/Lt pulmonary arteries- carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.

14.Aorta- main artery carrying oxygenated blood to the body- originates at left ventricle.
* The coronary arteries are on the outside of the heart. They supply the heart with the oxygen and nutrients needed to make it pump
