NYSITELL New York State Identification Test for English Language Learners Will replace the LAB-R as identification tool for English language learners Piloting starting in August 2013, especially in districts with large ELL populations. (We need you.) All schools will be administering NYSITELL, in place of LAB-R starting February 1, 2014

Scoring August 2013 Regents For all state exams, teachers may not score their own students’ test papers For August Regents Exams, teachers may not score a paper if they were the student’s: Summer school teacher, OR 2012-2013 school year teacher

Results for 2013 3-8 ELA and Math Scores will be released during the summer (late July) Public information (statewide, district, and school aggregates) will be available at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/irs/press.html http://www.p12.nysed.gov/irs/press.html School and district administrators will receive their results at approximately the same time as the public release

Expectations for 2013 Results New standards and expectations will likely result in fewer students meeting standards This does not mean a decline in student learning or educator effectiveness Results will present a more accurate picture of where students are relative to college and career expectations Accountability status and educator evaluations will not change based on lower levels of proficiency

Spring Field Testing Grades 3-8 ELA and Math field tests are being administered June 3 – 7 Field testing is essential to ensure the validity and reliability of the assessments NYSED’s goal is to require only the minimum amount of field testing needed to build high quality assessments Cooperation by all schools minimizes the burden on each individual school

New Reference Math Tables Reference tables for Math Tests in Grades 5-8 have been revised for 2014 Changes based on input from the field and information from PARCC Reference tables will be sent for students’ use during field tests (June 3-7, 2013)
