TKAM Paper Process Writing

Class Day #1: Thesis, Text Evidence & Body Paragraphs 1) Pick the TOPIC in the story that most interests you: Topic: Courage 2) Develop a Theme about that topic. Ask yourself the following questions: a) What was the author trying to teach readers? What do I walk away knowing about this topic? How can I change my life from this story? Courage is defying the odds and fighting when you know you’ve been beat This is now your THESIS – just add the author and title!!! 3) Think of two events/lines (QUOTE) in the story that would prove your theme. Proof: Atticus Finch and Mrs. Dubose 4) Write your TOPIC SENTENCES: Mention your thesis + how you’ll prove it! One way that Lee demonstrates that real courage is fighting the uphill battle is through the character of Atticus Finch.

Think about these questions: (Explain) What we learn from that example? Talk to us about what we can learn from the events you just mentioned in the story. Mention your thesis here. Restate your topic sentence (restate topic sentence)
