Sentential ambiguity is effectively something that looks like one sentence that is actually two. Or more precisely, one sentence that implies more than one proposition. Event schemata are part of meaning. Semantic roles are part of meaning. But what linguists and philosophers mean by semantics is a fairly narrow sort of meaning concerning truth conditions and denotation. English 306A; Harris
