2. Task analysis What? A process –To understand what constitutes optimal performance. – To determine what others need to know to perform at an optimal level. Why? If you suspect people are not performing optimally.

3. How to complete a task analysis. 1. List all the tasks (steps) that make up the job. 2. List the steps and decisions involved in performing each task. 3. Consider the following: –when is the task performed? –How is the task performed? –How do you know when you’re done?

4. Ways of listing tasks. 1. Listing. Like making a grocery list. 1,2,3,… 2. Flowcharting. Using rectangles to represent steps and diamonds to represent decisions in the task.
