Project Scheduling Project Scheduling - On schedule according to group and class deadlines Showstoppers Showstoppers - ? System Response Time ? - Solenoid Output Force at Lower Voltages
5
Last Week’s Action Items Item: Item: - Machine all components for the design Action: Action: - Group coordinated efforts and traveled to machine shop on 11/2/06 Outcome: Outcome: - All parts machined for assembly - Only part remaining to be CNC machined is frame top
6
Last Week’s Action Items
7
Item: Item: - Build the frame used to support the drums and actuator Action: Action: - 80/20 Aluminum selected as material for base frame - Wood chosen as the material for the top cover - Group members met on 11/5 and 11/6 to complete frame Outcome: Outcome: - Frame completed – 3’ x 2’ x 1¼’ - Only CNC left to perform on wood
8
Last Week’s Action Items Item: Item: - Build and test the voltage regulator circuit Action: Action: - Gather electronic components and assemble by 11/7/06 Outcome: Outcome: - Initial design for regulator circuit failed due to complications with transistors - Different, more simple circuit proposed - Simple circuit created and tested - able to output four different voltages – success

This Week’s Action Items Item: Item: - Assemble the prototype Action: Action: - Wooden cover machined by end of class 11/07 - Other parts can be assembled and interfaced with microcontroller since circuitry is complete
11
This Week’s Action Items Item: Item: - Complete the computer program that interfaces the microcontroller, circuitry, and prototype assembly Action: Action: - Utilize programming flow-chart already created as guide for function - Assistance will be sought from Mr. Brownell in ISALL - Intended completion date: 11/12
12
This Week’s Action Items Item: Item: - Begin prototype testing and select desired voltage drop across solenoid for four different volumes Action: Action: - Two variable resistors per solenoid ( 0 – 3 Ω ) Able to create four different voltage drops through basic parallel and series wiring Resistance value selection paramount in design Current design values: R1 = 1 ΩR2 = 2 Ω Four predicted voltage drops: 12.00 V, 9.82 V, 9.00 V, 6.80 V
