KVR KVR ◦ K= Knowledge ◦ V= Vision ◦ R= Road ◦ All the tests that you need to pass in order to obtain a license or permit.

Knowledge Written test 80 percent, or 40 of the 50 questions, must have correct answers. Failure: wait 7 days!

Vision Basic License Applicants: ◦ 20/50 vision or without corrective lenses. ◦ For sight in one eye only, that eye must meet the 20/50 rule and the applicant must have documentation signed by a licensed physician. CDL License Applicants: ◦ 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses in both eyes. ◦ Must be able to distinguish among red, green, and amber lights.

Special Learner Permit Restrictions (minimum age 16) No driving between 11:01pm and 5:00 am No cell phones, video games, etc. Must be accompanied in the front seat by an adult supervising driver who is at least 21 years of age and who possesses a valid NJ driver license and has a minimum of 3 years driving experience. Passengers – supervising driver, any parent or guardian, one additional passenger. Everyone must wear seatbelt.

Examination Permit Restrictions (minimum age 17) *An examination permit is different from a student learner permit because the applicant does not have to be a student and an instructor is not necessary.* No driving between 11:01pm and 5:00am. What is the GDL decal?

GDL DECAL Kyleigh’s Law, May 1, 2010 all GDL drivers under the age of 21, who possess a permit of probationary license, are required to display two visible, red reflective decals, distributed through the MVC, on the top left corner of the rear and front license plate $4 a pair $100 fine for not having them displayed. If a permit driver commits a traffic offense, the responsibility is with both the student and the adult supervising driver

Reasons for Road Test Rejection Improper, expired or no inspection sticker. Lack of examiner access to foot brake or parking break. Any defect or condition that affects the safe operation of the test vehicles. ◦ See page 34 of your manual for the list of possible defects or conditions. ◦ Failure: wait 2 weeks!
