homophone Words that sound the same, spelled different, with different meanings. To, two, and too are homophones.

telephone A device that transfers sound across distances. No one uses the telephone in their house any more because everyone has a cellphone nowadays.

headphones Electronic equipment used for listening to sound. Some headphones are good quality, while others make the sound fuzzy and unclear.

symphony A collection of sounds that produce music. The New York City symphony is one of the most well known musical groups.

motivation Encouraging or inspiring movement. Some students lack the motivation to do well in school.

automotive Self moving vehicle. The automotive looks cool in all silver and black.

promote To encourage and to move upward or rank. I promote independent reading for at least 30 minutes a day outside of school.
