3 Our Government is in Washington D.C. and the legislative branch makes the laws. The Executive branch that the President runs. The president passes the laws that the Congress makes. The Judicial branch runs the supreme court an other courts.

4 More than 100 years ago Hershey started a chocolate factory. They were the first factory to mass produce. Two reasons that there were so many factories were in the Northeast was because there was people power and water power.

5 West Quoddy lighthouse was one of the first lighthouses made. It was built in 1808. The Wobanokies were the tribe that lived there. The sun rises first at west Quoddy.

6 The Erie Canal opened in 1825. The prices dropped from $100 a ton to $10 a ton for shipping goods. The Erie Canal is 340 miles long that connects the Hudson River with the great lakes.

7 New York City has more than 8 million people live there. It is the most populated city in America. New York City has always been a city of immigrants. Dutch were the first Europeans to live there.

8 They call Independence the birth place of our Nation. They signed the Declaration of Independence at Independence Hall. Americans fought along hard war against great Britain and they finally agreed to give us freedom.

9 Mt. Washington is the highest peek in the Northeast Region. The winds can get up to 231 degrees. It is 6288 feet tall. The record was broke for tallest peek in 1934.

10 The Boston Common is the first public park. Boston is one of the Americas freedom from Great Britain began. In 1775, many people in 13 colonies did not want to live under British rule anymore.

11 The pilgrims landed there almost 400 years ago In 1620, the Mayflower left England with 102 passengers aboard. Instead of Virginia in landed in New England. Storms blew the Mayflower of course. The pilgrims decided to stop at New England.
