2 Planner on the desk! Please write in your homework (below) to be in on Monday. In regards to goal setting and planning an exercise programme (e.g. your PEP). Investigate the meaning of SMART targets. Give an explanation of each component including an example. Once written in, turn your planner to your ‘green’ card.

5 6 initiatives to increase participation 1.Government Initiatives The government have recently introduced a policy to ensure all pupils receive 2 hours of high quality PE. To improve participation And fitness

6 2. PE School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) Aim is to strength links between schools and local clubs, so pupils can continue to develop their skills Increase opportunities for pupils to take part as performers, leaders, officials and volunteers.

7 3. Sport England – Start, Stay, Succeed! Start: increase participation in order to improve health of the nation, with a focus on priority groups. Stay: retain people in sport through an effective network of clubs, sports facilities, coaches, volunteers and competitive opportunities. Succeed: create opportunities for talented performers to achieve success.

8 4. The Youth Sport Trust TOP Link Getting students aged 14-16 involved in leading and organising sporting events for primary schools and special schools. Especially GCSE students and/or sports leaders.

9 5. Active Kids programme Supermarkets run voucher programmes in which parents and teachers can collect vouchers for the school to then exchange for sports equipment.

11 Practice exam Q’s Tom and Jack are taking GCSE PE because they enjoy all the activities. Since they were very young they have been influenced in the sports they like by others. Give 3 ways that they could be influenced by taking part in sport (3 marks) Explain the concept of the ‘sports participation pyramid’ (1 mark) Describe 2 initiatives that are currently in place in order to increase participation. (4 marks)
