MARITIME DELIMITATION A. Maritime delimitation (boundary delimitation or simply delimitation) is an act of determining boundaries, based on particular principles, amongst adjacent states having overlapped waters to specify electoral precincts belonging to each state appropriately.

MARITIME DELIMITATION B. PRINCIPILES:  Agreement: - the most prioritized principle - arised from the nature of international law - stipulated in Article 12 of Geneva Convention on continental shelf, Article 15, 74 and 83 UNCLOS 1982. - acknowledged in North Sea case 1969; Maine Gulf case 1984.  Equity: - applied initially by International Law Commitee - stipulatd in Article 6 of Geneva Convention on continental shelf; Article 15, 59, 74 and 83 UNCLOS 1982. Principles and methods of delimitation

MARITIME DELIMITATION C. METHODS: - Equitable median

MARITIME DELIMITATION The method of equidistance line simplified or adjusted

MARITIME DELIMITATION D. RELEVANT CIRCUMSTANCES  Geographical circumstances: - configuration of coasts - islands  Non geographical circumstances: - geology and geomorphology - socio-economic circumstances - conduct of the States - the interest of third states and security (political) consideration - historic title
