2 Answer The inner core is extremely hot but the high pressure keeps the material in a solid state. The outer core has less pressure so the iron can stay in a liquid state.

3 Did you know…? The deepest hole ever drilled was 12,226 feet deep. It was difficult to drill deeper because liquid rock filled the hole.
