7.  In Greek Mythology, Pan is considered a satyr, or deities of the woods and mountains.  These satyrs are companions of Dionysus, the god of wine, and are usually shown dancing, drinking, and chasing nymphs.  Which is why Pan is also the god of fertility. He often chased nymphs through the forests and mountains seeking desire, but he wasn’t necessarily well-liked by others.

8.  When Pan was born and the nurse saw the face and beard of the newborn child, she was afraid and fled, and also for this it has been said that terrors and panics come from Pan himself.

9.  One day, Pan had fell in love with the Arcadian nymph Syrinx. Syrinx had despised Pan, and his ever lasting love for her, and had refused to take him as a lover(this was largely due to his “ugliness”).  Pan still pursued her, until one day where Syrinx came to a stream and was unable to pass this massive river. She than asked the river nymphs to change her form, and listening to her request they changed her into marsh reeds. There was nothing left of her except the reeds and the sound of which the air produced in them.  Pan was than charmed, and joining the reeds of different sizes, he invented the musical instrument the Pan flute
