TEST CHANGES National Merit Scholarship Changes Old PSAT *Total PSAT Score used to calculate NMQST Selection Index Score. *Highest NMQST Score was 240, same as highest PSAT Score New PSAT *The sum of the PSAT Section Scores multiplied by 2 is used to calculate NMQST Selection Index Score. *Highest NMQST is a 228

TEST CHANGES Calculating NEW PSAT NMQST Score Take the sum of all the Section Test Scores: Example: 36 Reading + 31 Writing/Lang + 28 Math = 95 Multiply the Sum by 2 Example: 95 x 2 = 190 Selection Index Score

TEST CHANGES How would an Old PSAT/NMQST Score translate to New? The College Board’s Concordance Table demonstrates what a Section Score on the Old PSAT would be estimated on the New PSAT. Example: 2014 Section Score 2015 Section Score Reading 79 38 Writing 79 38 Math 79 38 Total 237 114 x 2 = 228 * If a student scored 237 (Old PSAT) this could translate to a 228 (New PSAT) for NMQST.
