www.hee.nhs.uk Scientist Training Programme (STP) STP well established in NSHCS – recruitment, monitoring progress, supporting training, quality assurance, exit assessment First cohort of STP graduates 2014/15 Considerable expansion of STP programmes from initial cohort of 20 trainees in genetics to predicted intake of some 280 across 30 specialisms in 2015/16

www.hee.nhs.uk Higher Specialist Scientific Training (HSST) HSST programme development supported by MSC central team concludes end of 2014/15 Responsibility for managing HSST programme fully to NSHCS in 2015/16 NSHCS already managing first (2014/15) HSST cohort and preparing for second in 2015/16

www.hee.nhs.uk Accredited Scientific Practice (ASP) ASP provides accredited post-qualification CPPD for HCS workforce driven by workforce, service and patient needs Intended to be available at all levels of MSC Career Framework ASP has been undergoing development/piloting ASP Framework scheduled for publication March 2015 Responsibility for ASP to transfer to NSHCS 2015/16

www.hee.nhs.uk Career Framework 2-4 (CF 2-4) Development work currently with MSC central team Curricula and learning resources in development Level 4 being developed by FD Development Group Work being taken forward with School and Academy on assessment, accreditation, registration Transition of responsibility in 2015/16 to NSHCS to manage programme and to AHCS for registration issues

www.hee.nhs.uk CF 2-4 Apprenticeships Apprenticeships - consultation on three draft standards for CF 2-4 ended 12 January 2015 Standards to be submitted to BIS formal panel in June 2015 Apprenticeships will integrate with wider CF 2-4 development and implementation
