Three challenging statements Those who belong to God listen to (and act on) God’s words (John 8:47) Those who are on the side of the Truth listen to the words of Jesus (John 18:37) God’s Word is Truth (John 17:17)

“Every Word of God Proves True” Three ‘Words of God’ – all true 1. The Bible Text: God’s written Word shown to be an accurate record by the evidence of careful study, history and archaeology 2. Bible prophecies: What God has said about the future proves true and is a reliable guide to God’s purpose 3. Jesus Christ: ‘The Word made flesh’ - a trustworthy guide to salvation

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works”

The importance of reading the Bible carefully for ourselves Jesus said: “He that is of God heareth God’s words” The Bible: wonderfully constructed, with a harmonious & unified message Repeated and challenging claims of Divine origin & authority: ‘Thus saith the Lord’

Psalm 119:160 “Thy Word is true from the beginning” [But what about the alleged contradictions and errors?]

Can we really trust the Bible? 2 Samuel 24:9 “Joab gave up the sum of the number of the people unto the king: and there were in Israel 800,000 valiant men that drew the sword; and the men of Judah were 500,000 men.” 1 Chronicles 21:5 “Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were 1,100,000 men that drew sword: and Judah was 470,000 that drew sword.”

The Bible explains itself! “But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king’s word was abominable to Joab” (1 Chronicles 21:6)
